Tactlessness
|
"Betty wasn't having the best of days. She arrived at work late, she was swamped with
customers and her head was pounding. She knew today was not the day that she should have to deal
with Mr. Jostin. However, Mr. Jostin was a top customer and she had a meeting with him in
half an hour. The entire office had been instructed to give him special attention. No
matter how tactless Mr. Jostin was, she'd have to put on her best smile when he showed up.
The week before, when a co-worker was upset because her cat was hit
by a car, the entire office heard Mr. Jostin tell her "Get over it, it's just a cat".
He once asked the receptionist if she had ever considered joining Weight Watchers. It wasn't
fair that she couldn't say anything to him. She wasn't sure it would help but
she wished there was just some way that she could tell him anonymously."
